Streetlamps off when it's light, on when it's dark

Theoretically, this should already be the case. But we all know that streetlamps are frequently on when it's light in the mornings and often stay that way for a good hour or so. That's not good for the city's energy budget or its carbon emissions.

Basically, implement changes so that the lamps go off when it's light enough to see without them, i.e. when the sun comes up.

Why the contribution is important

Leaving the lights on when they're not needed costs money and, somewhere down the line, is burning carbon. If Glasgow could lead the way on this problem, local authorities and other big organisations around Scotland, the UK and the world might follow.

Likewise for Christmas (oops sorry FESTIVE) lighting. Even if the most energy efficient lightbulbs are used - still switch it off to remind everyone that you don't need lights on when it's light!
