Why the contribution is important

- removes the need to collect coinage from machines, reducing overheads

- removes need to maintain machines

- removes need to upgrade machines when coinage changes - for example, new 10p/20p coins

- simplifies back office collection using the Ring Go App

- improves customer experience - i.e. no machines rejecting coins

Wouldn't that mean if you don't have a working smart phone then you cannot legally park in town?

Whilst I appreciate the general idea of this, I don't think it's correct to assume that EVERY driver actually has a smart phone or force them to download a 3rd-party app just to park their vehicle.

You can also use the RingGo web site to pay. However I accept your points about needing a working smart phone or Internet access to do this. Probably some research would be needed to see the correlation between car and smart phone ownership and maybe there could be a small financial inventive to push people towards the App - for example, making coin payments slightly more expensive?
