Long term support for local business

More long term focus on locally-owned businesses that retain more customer revenue in the city than large chains that tend to drain money out of the local economy. Direct benefit to council coffers are not obvious and slow to come, but worth it in the long run.

For example, make it easier for people to shop in their local town centre rather than jumping through hoops for out of town shopping centres. That means things like sensitively-planned parking restrictions, public toilets.

Provide refurbished office and workshop space for small businesses through the city. Should increase business rates.

Why the contribution is important

Protect existing business revenue and increase future revenues.
