Contractors and external appointments

Savings must surely be able to be made  if the authority ceased to continue appointing contractors and consultants to carry out or manage particular projects and activities where the skills and resources already exist within the existing workforce. This is also particularly discouraging to existing staff who more often than not supply these contractors with knowledge and skill while being employed at lower grades.

The continued appointment of external applicants to posts where the skills exist internally would also be beneficial where there existing post can be made a saving.

Why the contribution is important

My idea is important due to the fact it is both economicaly beneficial as well as improving the moral of existing staff.
